Hey there, fellow educators! I’m absolutely thrilled to have you here in my virtual teacher’s lounge. Welcome to Scholastic Sage, where I’ll be sharing a plethora of ideas, stories, strategies, and even some teaching materials that you can take straight back to your classroom.

But first, let me introduce myself. My name is Brandy Lewis; I was the kid who thought my teachers were the coolest people on the planet, and I dreamed of one day sitting at my own teacher’s desk. Well, guess what? Dreams do come true!

My teaching journey began in 2009, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of working in various educational settings. From teaching ESL in a sheltered English classroom to co-teaching in core content classes, from instructing English Language Development classes to working with adults at an Adult Education Center, and finally, being an English teacher at both middle school and high school levels—I’ve been fortunate to gain a wide range of experiences that have shaped me as an educator.

I bring with me a wealth of knowledge and experience. I hold dual master’s degrees, one in English and Teaching Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and I earned a Master’s of Education degree with a focus on Teaching, Leadership, and Learning. Furthermore, I am certified to teach Secondary English grades 6-12, PreK to 12 ESL, and I also have expertise in Curriculum Administration.

The birth of Scholastic Sage stems from my belief that education is a community. If we genuinely value knowledge and the growth of our students, we mustn’t be gatekeepers. Some of my most effective strategies and techniques were gleaned from fellow teachers, and that’s why I’m here—to cultivate a community of educators who can learn from one another and enhance our educational practices.
